Newborough forest is not a rich leafy ancient woodland established over centuries. It is a product arising from post war government intervention to attempt to control the natural elements.
The passage of time is always apparent : the seasons, the shifting light, the toll of years of wind and brine defeating the trees.
The method of recording is deliberately simple. Mostly hand held without complex planning of light and equipment. I am wilfully breaking my practice of aiming for technical perfection to search for my reaction to the land. I am not trying to force metaphors out of the undergrowth but genuinely hope to recreate a spirit that is present in the landscape and try to share the experience.
