New Brighton Pier was about to be demolished in 1977, just as I began work in Liverpool. Everything in a photograph is always from the past. 1

Ferry crossings to New Brighton and the smell of hot doughnuts at the fair ground are embedded memories from childhood visits. People drifting through the structures quickly became an essential element of the photographs, as important as the structure.
